1. But Windows Update and Defender are set for automatic update

2. Get error message on desktop that Window Update is not functioning

3.Attempts to manually update Windows Update results results in error
message "Windows could not search for updates-error code 800B0100" History
of Windows Update log indicates - none.

4.Attempts to manually check for Windows Defender update definitions results
in error message "This program can't check for definition updates error code
found 0x0004002"

Other than this the Vista operating system appears to be functioning correctly
