Partition "gone" after install vista home premium

N

noob

I have a 250GB HDD. C: drive 50GB, D: drive 60GB and the rest goes to E: drive.
Previously install Vista Ultimate RC1 on my C: drive. I Bought a vista Home
Premium last nite and do a new installation over my C: to replace RC1.

After installation, although my D: and E: drives are still there, but the
data isnt. When I click on D: or E:, it shows "The disk in drive D is not
fomatted. Do you want to fomat it now."

During the installing, I did not delete or format any partition. The data in
D: is important. How do I get it back? Please Help!!!

Hi

Thats sounds very strange. All I can suggest really without risking the data
on the drives if its still there is to, remove the whole drive out of your
computer. Connect it to another computer, perhaps an XP client and check to
see if you can see drives and the data. If you get the same message then the
partition MBR have probably been destroyed.

In that case perhaps do a quick format on one of the drives with the same
File System and use a Data Recover application from the Internet to try and
recover your data that way. If it works repeat this on the other partition.

Hope that helps.
