Hi,
I am facing an issue in which for a period of time (about 5 days), all my files are encrypted using a newly generated certificate. All the files encrypted before and after this period are using a different certificate.
For example, let's call them certificate1 and certificate2, both are self-signed certificates.
From day 1, all my files are encrypted using certificate1. I was able to access those files.
From day 10, new files are encrypted using certificate2. I was not able to access the old files from day 1 to 10 as they were encrypted using certificate1. However I was able to access the files from day 10 onwards.
From day 15, new files are encrypted using certificate1 again. I am now not able to access the files from day 10 to 15 as expected.
In the certificate manager, I can see both the certificates. Both certificates show the message "You have a private key that corresponds to this certificate". However when I try to export, I am able to export the private key only for certificate1 and not certificate2.
What I'd like to understand is under what conditions does EFS decide to create a new certificate so that I can try and avoid that condition in my environment to prevent this certificate mismatch?
Thanks.
Regards,
Vinayagar
