I have an 85TB iscsi LUN directly connected to a SAN device via MPIO on 10G Ethernet links. The files copied to this volume are very large. Everything is working but there is a severe memory problem.
Problem is, Windows 2012 R2 system cache (not file cache) simply climbs to max and consumes ALL available memory if we copy a file to this volume.
I've run perfmon and it reports "cache bytes peak" is 59132268544.0000 bytes which is just shy of the 60GB of memory in the system.
Question is, how can I limit or even turn off iscsi file system cache so my server stops crashing when we copy files to the attached iSCSI drive?
I have only found outdated 2008 and 2008 R2 documents relating to limiting memory cache, nothing for 2012 R2.
