Windows displaying Chinese traditional characters even though the input method is Chinese simplified

I am using Windows home 10, Version 10.0.17134 Build 17134. Seems to have the above problem recently. Previously the Chinese character output were all simplified when I was using Chinese (Simplified, China) Microsoft Pinyin. For some reason, it now shows the characters as traditional characters and no matter what I tried, it is still in traditional characters. What needs to be done to get it back to simplified characters?
