My old laptop was Win 7 with the Win 10 upgrade. Every second time Win 10 did an update the comp would no longer "login". I'd get the login page with the nice hi-def pic, put in my secret code and bliss. It was slow but I'm currently unemployed and I'm making do. All good (so far!).

The "spasm attack" as I call it was that once I input the pin to get past login the comp would go to a dark greyish screen with intermittent flashes of a couple of desktop item. Nothing worked. It could sit there doing this flashing of icons (nowhere near the true number I had before the spasm. The hourglass next to the pointer would also occasionally appear ..... FOR HOURS until I gave in On a couple of occasions it came good and things worked normally UNTIL I turned-off or restarted the computer. Then things were back to square one.

However, each time it had one of these spasms they got worse up to the point that it was costing too much to have to keep getting someone around (Eddie @ Eastside computers).

I decided that it was my old laptop and spent $800 on a new Win 10 comp. And I have had problems again culminating in the reemergence of this login problem but with a twist! I turned on the comp after a 4-day hiatus only to get a message saying something line my login won't work/be accepted. Kinda like I was excommunicated. I wish I had taken pics. I am now though.

I don't recollect fine details but eventually I was able to get a login and input my pin. REJECTED! What utter ****! I noticed the second login under my name (slightly different) and my regular pin worked there. I was IN! Or so I thought. The computer said it was setting up Windows (as in for the first time, and indeed it was!).

Weirdly I got back my personal wallpaper. The Album cover of the King Crimson album "InThe Court of the Crimson King" (Well, it was the 60ties). and a small handful of my original, pre spasm, desktop icons. Virtually all downloaded apps were missing and I had to resetup (but not instal) Office and Outlook as well as most appr. If I look in file exp there seems to now be two of me. The pre spasm good-guy and the doppelganger wannabe.

So now my le1 yr old comp is having identity problems and I am literally going crazy. I'm in Randwick, Sydney (if that matters later). I emailed Microsoft some 6-9 months ago when the old laptop was sick but no reply of course.

I'm not sure about backups etc and I wouldn't know what to do anyway (But I am a quick learner).

SOOOOOO! Please assist me. I have virtually given up. I AM GETTING THE FEELING THAT ms IS SENDING OUT UPDATES FULL OF FLAWS (NO-ONES PERFECT) BUT AFTER ALL THESE YEARS AND THE LEARNING THAT WENT WITH IT WHY ARE WE BEING (APPARENTLY) FED CRAP AND BEING USED AS CRASH-TEST DUMMIES? wELL?

Oh 5h!t. Must have hit the CAPS key. Too bad. It's time for my 5 pm Beer with a Scotch chaser and a migraine.

I await the communities help in this matter (unless, of course, they just downloaded and installed the latest Win 10 update!

P.S. Microsoft actually warns against rolling back to a prior version of Win 10 (before the update) as it may cause problems. WTF! Can't be any worse than not being able to login and use your own computer!

P.S.2 Why is it that when you have, say, a software problem (In my case running problems with my Netgear gear (And I use the troubleshooter/s). If the problem is not remedied the comp opens the appropriate MS help page for your problem. That's awesome BUT as it's a networking problem I have no internet. Doh!.

Cheers Guys & Gals.
