Windows Server 2016 Standard with all updates as of two weeks prior to this post.
We have the following in the event log of our application server:
The process C:\Windows\System32\RuntimeBroker.exe (APPLICATIONS) has initiated the power off of computer APPLICATIONS on behalf of user myDomain\Administrator for the following reason: Other (Unplanned)
Reason Code: 0x5000000
Shutdown Type: power off
Comment:
I have already checked the following website for shutdown reason codes: System Shutdown Reason Codes
I note that the reason code we have, 0x5000000, is NOT listed on the website. I then checked the reason.h file as mentioned by Raymond Chen here: Shutdown reason codes are reason codes, not error codes or HRESULTs
The reason.h file does NOT have the above code listed.
Can someone tell me what the above shutdown code is and why RuntimeBroker would be initiating the shutdown?
