I brought up a 2016 file server into a 2008 domain. I set up the file server roles and added a "Users" file share to move user home drives to. I move the files from the old server to the new server using robocopy to copy over all the permissions.
From the local desktop, or dc and other file servers logged in as serveradmin, I am able to browse to the new share and user folder.
From the local desktop, I can manually map a drive to that folder
However, from ADUC under the User properties, Profile screen, when I try to change the Home Folder mapping to the new location, the error received is:
The home folder could not be created because: Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.
The "Serveradmin" login is being used to edit ADUC and add the mapping. "Serveradmin" login is an administrator on the file server. "Serveradmin" has full control of the file share. And "Serveradmin" has full delegate access in AD
"Serveradmin" is allow log on locally to the file server.
Within AD we have the profiles set to automatically map the "H" drive to the home folder of \\fs01\users\%username%. But I cannot seem to get this to work when the file server is a Windows 2016 file server.
What am I missing?
