Desktop Windows Manager crashes every 30 minutes after March 2018 and later rollouts are applied

Hello. I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 Duo Core 2 processor laptop that has been working flawlessly for about 10 years. It has Windows 7 installed. A problem started after the March 2018 rollout update (KB4088875) was installed on it. After this, whenever an Aero theme is enabled, the Desktop Windows Manager will crash and restart about every 30 minutes. This will cause the screen to flash each time. It will put an event in the Admin log every half hour with the following info: "Desktop Windows Managers fatal error….0x8898009b…event ID 9020". I can switch to the Windows Basic non-Aero theme and the problem will stop, but I will no longer be able to view thumbnails of pictures in the taskbar, which is a major inconvenience. What I have been doing each month is uninstalling the rollout update, because installing a rollout update for any month including and subsequent to March 2018 will cause this error to start happening again. I really want a better fix, since it isn't wise not having updated Microsoft Security updates installed regulary. I also have run MSConfig and disabled startup items, reran the video card most updated drivers install (Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family graphics card), ran SFC /Scannow, etc, but nothing that I can find will fix this error. I have 4 of these Windows 7 laptops in my home and each one has the same problem after the March 2018 rollout or any rollout after this date is applied. I appreciate any assistance in clearing this error. Thanks.
