on windows xp sp2

i am using a local account in the admin group. when i tried to load a
new driver i don't get visible errors, but the driver did not load.
it was late and i did not look in the event logs.
i used system restore to get back to the position before the problem
occurred.

is there a specific gpo that might do this? or ....

thanks

Hello,

There is a policy setting. Under Local Security Policy > Local
Policies > User Right Assignment. The policy is "Load and unload
device drivers" and it is granted to local Administrators by default.
That is a good place to start.

If the policy setting is not the culprit, we will need more
information to help you solve this. A good start would be listing the
problem device driver, whether or not the computer is a member of the
domain, and any pertinent event log entries.
