We have several sites interconnected by site to site VPNs. We use DFS to synch our shares and all drives are mapped via the DFS namespace starting with the domain ex: TBL.local\DFS\Shared This way users are always connecting to the nearest server.
Problem starts when I started the replacement of the VPN. New system connects fine, but when users try to access their shared, they don't work. I realized that I was getting replies from every other server, except the one I was VPN into. Since I don't have routes set up between the VPN and the sites, it fails.
I researched and thought that if I add a new subnet in Sites with the IP of the new VPN, AD would know to connect me with the server in that site, but I'm still getting the same situation where pinging the domain name returns a random AD in any site.
