Moving a volume licensed 2008r2 server from decomissioned 2008 server to Server 2016 server with Software assurance

Looking for some feedback thoughts on this, I have a 2008 server that is being decomissioned, and moving one 2008r2 server to the new Windows server 2016. The new server has a license with software assurance, the old server is a stand alone volume license. and the server is just using 4 cores, and is just a Antivirus server. My Co worker thinks it should have another license because of the per core license of software assurance. I think not because it has the volume license

Since they paid for Software assurance and the cores, would it be correct to place this server on there with no additional license purchase?

And if i wanted to add a virtual windows 10 on this server, I would have to have the special windows 10 for virtual servers, with software assurance?

Thanks for any suggestions or links you know of addressing this type of issues.
