Hello
I work in a rural school. Many of our laptops periodically attach a yellow triangle to the network connection indicator. It states no internet connectivity despite a fully functioning connection. This causes features in office to cease to function.
I have run through the fixes listed in prior articles without much luck. The problem is caused by the Network Connection Status Icon (NCSI). I just want to turn it off, or convince it that we have an internet connection at all times. I have attempted to disable it through group policy by enabling the "Turn off Windows Network Connectivity Status Indicator active tests" under "System/Internet Communication Management/Internet Communication settings" and enabling the "Disable Passive Polling" under"Network/Network Connectivity Status Indicator" This seems to have no effect. I also attempted to redirect NCSI to an internal server hosting the files it checks for by changing the registry files in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet". No luck. I also tried setting "EnableActiveProbing" to 0. None of these worked.
Anyone know how to turn the darn thing off?
