While out-of-town for 6 weeks, I had two power outages. When I returned, one of my servers was powered down. I found the power outages were a month ago. When I powered up, it had 25 services down, and they would not start, or would immediately stop. My last backup was a month old, prior to the power outage.
I did an image copy recovery of the month-old backup, but now I can't log into the server with the domain user ID. There are no local users on this server as its a member of the domain. I get the message "Access is denied". I cannot access the services from the remote administration applets. Other domain members cannot see the server. I cannot access the event log remotely. Some services appear to be running, since at the logon screen, there were messages showing Windows Update was running.
I suspect that the restore from a month-old image copy reverted the domain membership password, but I cannot see the logs to be sure. How can I renew the domain membership when I cannot access this server. I do have full access to the domain controller.
