I have some weird issues in my new workplace. I'm still learning the ropes and trying to figure this out
- primary DNS server is dnsserver.xxxx.local with IP 192.168.10.10
- when running from any PC "nslookup FQDN" the output is totally off in terms of the dns server. It says server:control, address: 192.168.200.254. "*** control can't find FQDN : non-existent domain"
- when I add the actual dns server IP into the NIC's ipv4 config it resolves properly but I don't want to have to do this on every single PC
- I checked the forward lookup zone and the name server enlisted is the correct one. However it does include a secondary DC and secondary DNS that the previous IT had shut down because it was suspected to have caused serious issues - nobody could join the domain one day all of a sudden
If you have any ideas or tips where I should look for the problem please let me know I'd appreciate that
thanks
Luke
