I am running Windows 2012 R2 Server Standard 64-bit. I tried running the setup for Windows Server 2016 evaluation. I wanted to do an upgrade, keeping my existing settings. On the "Choose what to keep" screen I cannot select the "Keep personal files and apps" option. There is text at the bottom of the window saying"Your files, apps, and settings can't be kept because you're installing an edition of Windows that's different than the one you're using.
Well that's true... I"m running Windows 2012 R2 and I want to upgrade to Windows Server 2016. I was under The assumption that it was possible to upgrade to Windows Server 2016. This happens if I select either Standard or Datacenter edition.
Does anyone have any ideas why I can't upgrade?
