PKI Cert for a website on a standalone server.

Hello,
I am in the process of reqeusting a cert from an internal CA for a website
that is hosted on a workstation that is not a member of our domain. This
server is in a workgroup. I have tried requesting the cert several times and
for some reason it will not work. I keep getting a prompt stating that the
site name cannot be verified.

The site is listed in the following format
https://servername/applicaiton

I have reqeusted the cert using the following methods.
- the exact site name
- FQDN
-Server name.

Can anyone shed some light on this situation. Thank you.

Try the following:

Request a new certificate

Select the method you want to use ...
(o) Create a new certificate

Do you want to prepare a certificate ...
(o) Prepare the request now, but send it later

Type the name for the new certificate
(Enter the server's computer name. Example: Webserver1)

Type the common name for your site
(Enter the FQDN with which the web browsers will contact your web
server. Example: www.yourdomain.com)

Enter a file name for the certificate request
(Save to the local file system. Example: C:\Webserver1.txt)

Then, take the certificate request -- i.e., Webserver1.txt file -- and
copy it to your internal CA. Fulfill the request and copy the
certificate back to the webserver. Follow the IIS certificate wizard
to install the certificate.

Hope that helps,
