Hibernation/sleep issue with ACER 8204 (Intel 945PM)

When entering hibernation mode the power light turns off, but the fan keeps
going, and the HDD led blinks from time to time. Exiting hibernation seems ok
though, looking very much the same as I remember from XP.

When it comes to the issue of Sleep mode on my laptop, It all seems ok, with
the lights turning off, the screen going black, and the fan going silent. But
when I try to wake it up again, the computer automaticly restarts itself, and
I need 3 or 4 tries to start the computer (shuts down just before the windows
logo and startup sound).

I have the newest bios-update, chipset drivers and pretty much everything
else in shape.
My OS is Vista Ultimate. Forgive me if I posted in the wrong discussion group.

As far as I know, this laptop comes with Windows XP so I'm assuming you
installed Vista either clean or over your XP setup...you should always
mention this type of information. That said, the problem you describe and
was the case in XP as well is almost always a driver issue. Have you
checked for the latest Vista compatible drivers for all your hardware?
Second, have you checked the Acer website for any information that might
apply, additional things they recommend to prep the system beyond what
you've done and do they should any tech papers, knowledge base articles or
other users, assuming they have their own forum, that might have this issue
and what was recommended to deal with it.
