Hi
Yesterday I opened a brand new, out of the box Acer Aspire TC.
Windows went through its usual stuff to set up and all was ok. I have the computer connected to my high-def TV through an HDMI cable I've used for years with my last computer (same TV too).
I watched some YouTube videos, all was fine but when I paused a video for a few moments, there was no sound when I restarted the video.
I checked everything and eventually ended up pulling the HDMI cable out of the TV for a couple seconds then reinserting it and a couple seconds later, the audio popped back on. I watched videos for 3 or 4 hours without issue but every time I paused a video, there was no sound upon restarting the video.
The only way I can find to get the sound back on is to yank the HDMI cable out of the TV.. Sometimes, if I pause the video for just a few seconds, sound comes back on no problem. Pause for a few minutes, the sound NEVER comes back on. Try a new video, no sound. Go to an online radio station, no sound. No system sounds, nothing. Gotta unplug the HDMI or restart computer.
This happened a few times yesterday. It happened a few times today. I changed HDMI cables today, same problem. I tried updating the audio driver, computer said I already had the latest driver installed. Checked for updates, did them, restarted, same problem. I don't know what to do here.
Process:
I watch a YouTube video and everything is fine. If I pause the video for a couple of minutes then "unpause" the video (press play), there is no sound.
So I go to :
Control Panel < Hardware and Sound < Sound < Manage Devices and I see "TSB-H84s" Intel (R) Disply Audio Default Device.
Beside it to the right there is a bar with green lights flashing up and down. I know the sound is there but after pausing the video, nothing comes out of the TV's speakers. I tried configuring the speakers and pressing the "TEST" button... no sound.
Click on the speakers properties tab and it says Jack Information, L R HDMI Digital Jack. Device status says this device is working properly.
I used the old computer, this TV and this HDMI cable for probably 5 years and never had any problem like this. I know the TV is good, I know the cable is good, I know the computer is showing sound is "playing" but after pausing for a few minutes, there's no sound coming out of the TV.
Can you please help?
Windows 10 64 bit
8th Gen Intel Core 5 processor 8400
8 GB DDR4 RAM
Intel UHD Graphics 630
Thank you!
