I am trying to copy about 2TB of files from one Windows Server 2012 machine to another. I like the details view of the copy process when I copy/paste using Windows Explorer. The details view shows both progress and performance nicely.
I started 2 Running Actions copying files. Each is a copy/paste about 1TB of files. Since this is expected to take a day or so, I have sometimes clicked the Pause button to pause the actions and clicked the Resume button to resume copying. About 600GB into each of the copy actions, one of the copy actions still Pauses and Resumes fine. However, the other Action is stuck after I clicked the Pause button. It has been stuck now for over 12 hours with the message "Pausing - 65% complete". The Pause button for that action is disabled and has not changed to "Resume"(play >) icon.
Since there are 2 running copy actions and one of them is running fine, I think the stuck Action is a bug of some kind. Fortunately, this is only a TEST to see if Windows 2012 can transfer files reliably by simply using the File Explorer and copy/paste.
My question is, how do I force the copy action's stuck Pausing to either complete its transition to "Paused" state or how do I force it to Resume?
Terminating a 1TB copy/paste and trying again is not desirable when the cause of the stuckness is not know.
