Question About Rebuilding Domain Controllers

Hi All. Long story short, I've built a brand new domain consisting of a physical Domain Controller, and a 2nd Domain Controller created on a Hyper-V cluster. It turns out I need to rebuild both domain controllers, as our company has a standard image required to be used for DCs (includes security hardening and standardized settings).

My question is: How can I effectively demote and rebuild these DCs and after loading the "correct" image re-promote them and not break the domain?

Note: All servers are 2016
