Why does Windows 8 keep putting me in a temporary account? *SOLUTION*

So, a while ago I had a problem where at one point during my experience with my Windows 8.1 where I signed out and shut down the computer, and whenever I got back on, it just signed me into a temporary account! I've seen that others have the same problem, and even Microsoft can't fix the solution. Well. I just figured out how to fix it.

So what you need to do is write down your name you used whenever you signed in, so for example, what did you set your computer's name to be, mine was "My_PC123". Once you've remember what you set it as, make sure to write it down, it is important for later.

Next on your keyboard hold down the Windows Key and the R key and the "Run" app on the left will pop up.

Next type in Regedit and click enter or Ok. A window might pop up asking if you want to run Regedit, just click yes.

From there you want to find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and click the little drop down arrow on the left of it. Then find the folder named SOFTWARE and click the dropdown arrow as well. Now find the folder labeled Microsoft and click the dropdown arrow too.

Now the hard part, look for a folder in the list of folders named "Windows NT". But don't worry, the folders are in alphabetical order. Once you find Windows NT, click the dropdown arrow next to it on the left and right under it click the dropdown arrow from CurrentVersion. Scroll down until you find ProfileList and click the dropdown area next to it as well. Now finally, at the very bottom of ProfileList will be a folder with a bunch of random numbers and then .bak at the end of it. Click the folder with .bak. Next to it, on the right will be a bunch of little red and blue papers, look for the paper that is named ProfileImagePath. Double click ProfileImagePath and wait.

Now it should say something like this: C:\Users\TEMP

Now finally, replace TEMP with the name you wrote down and click OK. Now just restart your computer and then everything should be back to normal. Thank you for reading and I hope this solved your problem. Goodbye!
