Here Maps on Lumia

My dearly beloved Lumia 820 continues to work for most things but this weekend (22,23 September 2018) it stopped. Each time I click the Here icons (drive, map, transport) it appears to want to load but then returns to my Start Screen. If I try to manage maps it tells me that the maps library is not available and come back later. Any clues? Has Here finally dropped Microsoft completely?
