Windows 7 32/64-bit drivers for Toshiba Satellite P100/P105 Users

I am one of many people who struggled to make Windows 7 64-bit work on my P100/P105 machine (I am using P105-S9722 which was manufactured in 2006 - not eligible for Toshiba support for Windows 7).

I have made posts for Windows 8/8.1 & 10; however this is only for systems using Windows 7.

I have listed here some basic drivers you can use for your P100/P105 systems for Windows 7 64-bit to work. Many of these listed are from other users, but there may be some additional drivers many may not know about. I can't guarantee that all of these will make your system work 100%, but hopefully this will make your upgrade just a little quicker & easier.

Before using these driver, I recommend you do a fresh install of Windows 7 64-bit regardless if you are using XP or Vista 32 or 64-bit systems.

WORKING TOSHIBA DRIVERS (bluetooth & some utilities - total 4 drivers) - ONLY LOAD THESE DRIVERS AFTER YOU HAVE INSTALLED WINDOWS 7! These drivers are from Toshiba and they will install with no problems. You will need to reboot when this is done.

tsi4win7.exe

SOUND CARD: The biggest issue of Windows 7 64-bit is that there is no sound. Here is a link you can try.

Audio4.8.0.0.zip

Follow these instructions:

1) Download the driver.

2) right click the file to extract it to a folder of the same name (do not double-click as the automatic installation will fail)

3) double-click on folder Audio4.8.0.0, then double-click again on subfolder Audio4.8.0.0 if present

4) double-click on folder BD1-BH1

5) double-click on folder VXP64

6) recommend to double-click on file BD16HAa.inf to check if your sound Hardware ID is listed under [Conexant.NTAMD64], should be HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_1179FF31

7) close BD16HAa.inf file if opened in step 6, then simply double-click Setup64.exe

8) restart system (although audio may work right away, always a good idea.)

SYNAPTIC TOUCHPAD: If your P100/P105 has a dual Synaptic touchpad like mine, the best driver I was able to find is a download from the X205 model:

driver_touchpad_synaptics_TC40060600A.exe

Here's the thing with the Toshiba file, when you save it or run it, it unzips the folder into the TEMP folder. When you go to run it, the main setup WILL NOT WORK. Here's what you need to do:

1) Change you folder selection so you can show hidden folders & files

2) After unzipping the file, open C:\Users\"YOURNAME"\AppData\Local\Temp\driver_touchpad_synaptics_TC40060600A.temp

3) Click on "Setup" icon to run the file. (This file worked just fine on my P105-S9722 machine)

PCMCIA/Express Card/SD (TI) CARD READER - This driver will allow the PCMCIA, Express Card & SD Readers work normally on WIndows 7 (this was also found in the X205 model). The file will run and install the driver normally:

driver_cardreader_ti_25844A.exe

That's pretty much it for the basic drivers. I did not include LAN or Wireless Drivers.

Windows XP Mode using Virtual PC for Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise & Ultimate editions - Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and Microsoft now make it easy to put the virtual machine into the computer.

1) Download & Install Windows XP Mode: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8002

2) Download & Install Windows Virtual PC (KB958559): http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3702

3) Download & Install Update to remove the prerequisite to install Virtual PC & Win XP Mode (KB977206 - x64): http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=6906

Finally make sure the most recent Bios are installed v4.70: http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/sp100v470.exe
