Uninstalling media player in Windows 7

I cannot get to windows features to uninstall media player because media player won't let me. When i try windows features, media player comes on then the media player stopped working screen comes on and thus no going to windows features for me. Media player controls my computer it seems. If I hit a program media player like clockwork comes on followed with of course the beloved media player stopped working screen follows.
