I had the url for the old Classic Player but I seem to have deleted or
lost. Been thru CNET and Download.com and grown tired of being redirected.
The MSN site is hopeless. Anyone happen to have handy?

Thanks......

It depends on what you really mean.

What is sometimes referred to as the "classic" Windows Media Player from Microsoft
is Windows Media Player 6.4:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/version64/default.aspx

There is also a non-Microsoft media player with considerably greater functionality,
called Media Player Classic, which I use and recommend:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media_Player_Classic
and
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_players/media_player_classic_for_win98_me.cfm

I believe 6.4 is the "classic".

MS do have a few new codecs that you MAY need for that version -
or did a year or two ago, but you're on your own AFA finding
them on the MS site.

This might be what you are referring to:

Better yet, this is the link you'd use with Win98, to skip the "validation":
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/format/codecdownload.aspx
Scroll to the page bottom.

Direct download:

Got it. Thanks much.

BTW..this may be old hat to the folks here, but, I discovered that WMP
6.4 was
already on my pc, in the Win OS itself.

Start>Run>mplayer2.exe ---and up it pops. Had I known that I would not
have posted to start. Found that out on one of the d/l sites.

Again, thanks...
