Following the recent windows update I have lost the ability to install audio drivers on my computer.
USB input/recording devices install and function correctly however all output devices failed and were shown in device manager with yellow exclamation mark and the following descriptive text:
'Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)'
The built in audio device (motherboard) and playback devices associated with my NVIDEA graphics card are all affected and were working fine before the update.
Uninstalling a/all device(s) and refreshing hardware locates the device but the install fails part way through.
Attempting to restore to the System Restore point created during the updated failed with a notification the restore point was corrupt, all restore points were deleted during the attempt to restore.
The only change was the Windows Update as the PC has been switched off, cold boot was the first instance.
I have downloaded the most recent (and known good as it's the last one i had installed) driver from motherboard manufacturer.
No combination of uninstall driver/reboot/auto update/manually execute driver package etc has resolved the issue.
How can i locate the cause of the driver installation failure and fix the audio playback?
