Antivirus software inluding firewall for Vista 64-bit

M

Marcus

Does anybody know any antivirus software (full protection packagae including
firewall) able to work with Vista Home Premium 64-bit?

Having purchased Vista in April, first I used GData. After a couple o f
weeks some problems with its firewall module occurred. The GData technical
support advised me to remove the complete software and reinstall GData
without the firewall module. Since then I have been using GData without the
firewall module although I have paid for a full protection package! And the
GData support has never contacted me again though they promissed me to
analyse my problem and to come back with a solution.

According to what I was able to find out, the Norton Internet Secuirty does
not support Vista 64-bit.

AVG and NOD32 both support Vista 64 but in 32bit mode with 64bit
extentions - there are (as far as I know) no 64bit AV software out there

An interesting article for you to read. Avast now supports Vista 64 bit
version.

No firewall, but I like Vista'a firewall anyway.

The 32 bit version is brilliant, and was great in XP as well.
It runs rings around Norton, Trend Micro, etc.

Kaspersky Internet Security - firewall/AV/anti-spyware. Works great under
Vista x64 and is very secure. Or if you are just after AV, look at
Kaspersky Anti-Virus.

I know I'm going to get flak for recommending it, but I'm using it (32-bit)
and it works great! Nothing like Norton of the past.

Norton 360 supports 64-bit:

Operating Systems Supported
WindowsR XP Home/XP Pro/XP Media 2005+ 32 bit, Windows VistaT Home Basic/
Home Premium/Business/Ultimate 32 and 64 bit***
***Additional Windows Vista Requirements
Must meet minimum Windows Vista operating system requirements
Phishing protection feature available only on 32 bit Explorer

Avast was one of the first to release a proper x64 version, and like the
32-bit version, it's great and it's free.

I used to use ZonAlarm with it, but give that the Vista firewall is now
two-way, I don't bother using anything else.
