Guide how to apply additional Server 2016 licenses

Dear Support,

I have one server with 24 cores and I have one retail license which covers 16 cores. Unfortunately I haven't found any tutorial how to apply additional server license to license all my cores properly. My second question is there any tool to check that my machine is licensed properly after applying that second license?
