Why won't My Windows Laptop charge?

Whenever I plug in my charger for my laptop it says AC adapter type can not be determined and not charge my laptop at all. It says plugged in but not charging. But when I use another charger (for the same laptop model) it works. How do I fix my issue because I don't want to ask to borrow the charger from my brother.
