Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter VM licensing

Hello

I've been trying to find out something for a while now, even phoned Microsoft, to no avail.

I am trying to find out what Windows guest OS editions are covered by a datacenter license on a Hyper-V host.

For example i am running a Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter host. Does the license on this host cover Server 2016/Windows 10 or does it only cover Server 2012 R2 and below?
