Hi,
i have to replace a domain controller. It have some problem with update installation.
This DC is one of four DCs in my domain. My situation is like this: Step-By-Step: Setting Up Active Directory Sites, Subnets & Site-Links.
For semplicity define site A with DC1 e DC2 (it will be DC3) and site B with DC8 e DC9.
The DC that i have to replace is DC1. Is DNS and primary DHCP in fail-over with DC2 (Load balance).
Whose are the correct step to replace this with the new DC3?
Are this step correct?
1) promote server DC3 to domain controller and assigned do site A
2) ad DNS role and activate it. Test it.
3) ad DHCP role
4) Disable DHCP failover from DC1
5) Disable DHCP from DC1 and activate DHCP on DC2 (is my DC with FSMO role)
6) Start DHCP failover with DC2 e DC3
7) Disable DNS role from DC1
8) Set DC1 as only server member
Thank for you support
