I am thinking about buing Windows server 2016 datacenter edition and upgrading my Windows server 2012 running in vmware.
First I wanted to test if it upgrades without any problems so (I must be 100% sure that my website will be running without any issues after upgrade) I have downloaded evaluation version and tried to install it on a backup copy of my vmware image with licensed 2012 server. I am not able to keep personal files and apps...
Your files, apps, and settings can't be kept because you're installing an edition of Windows that's different than the one you're currently using.
How can I change the licensed version (running on the backup image for testing purposes) to evaluation? So I could first test upgrade to evaluation?
