'Can't find requested string' ?

All right: so what is the point of XP(Pro) telling me this without telling
me what string it is looking for?!

There is an icon which I do not recognize in the Control panel - sort of a
blue lozenge - alongside which is 'Can't find requested string'.

A similar symbol appears with the same epithet on one of the
Display/Properties/Advanced tabs.

'Can't find requested string' also appears three times in the right click
screen dialogue.

The advanced tab version seemed to be monitor details, so I reloaded the
monitor driver, but this has made no difference.

How do I trace these faults and correct them?

Thanks in advance,

Nobody replied to this, so I guess it must have been an old chestnut. A
googling, found me the link to Intel's glitches pages to discover we had
updated the graphics card with a glitch laden update - which required, oddly
enough, reloading with a different language setting and then changing back
afterwards!
