I have a problem with running scheduled tasks in Windows Server 2012. I'm not sure whether it's something that has genuinely changed or whether it's something configurable. I have a task that relies on some data in its user profile (i.e. in C:\Users\USERNAME\...), but it seems that not matter what user account actually runs the scheduled task (Administrator, a regular user, or a user in the Administrators group, ...), the current user profile is always set to C:\Users\Default.
I did a number of experiments, and it seems that the only case when it actually works is that when I'm also at the same time logged in on the server (with the same account the task runs under).
I tested the same thing on Windows Server 2008 R2, and it behaves as expected. In fact, we have a number of scheduled tasks on 2008, and they work fine. We are currently migrating to 2012.
