seagate hard drive issue

I have an old Seagate freeagent desktop ( about 7 years old. trying to access it with windows 10. apparently it normally operates on vista. all lights are on. can hear small ticking noise. when I plug it into USB nothing happens. cannot locate disck on disk drivers. any suggestions please!! valuable photos on hard drive that I need to access. TIA
