explorer won't open; locks up; trojan?

Help
Explorer won't open and locks up. I scanned with antivirus software and it
found a virus that "will take over command of explorer". There is a link to
go to microsoft to download the fix for the virus, BUT, my explorer locks up
everytime.

Can I download something to clean this up at work and take home to my
computer?

Write down the link to Microsoft, take it to work and download
the fix. If this doesn't help, please repost with more information,
including the operating system in use on the problem computer
and any other information on the virus.
