I have a DLNA server residing with my Linksys WRT3200ACM router, purchased a few months ago. Attached is a USB hard drive. It is set to share for all with no passwords so that set top boxes can easily connect to it.
I have several Windows 7 Pro PCs in the building that access this drive for storing backups as well as adding content. It doubles as a NAS.
I have a laptop with Windows 10 Home Ed on it that also can access the drive attached to that router.
My newly-built Windows 10 Pro system cannot. Initially, I learned that I had to enable SMB 1.0 extensions in the "Turn on/off Program Features". That got me one step closer, but I am now encountering a permission problem. I read that was caused by a Policy and learned to change it in the Group Policy Editor to allow "unsecure logons". However, I still can't log onto the media on this router. The result is a "you may not have permission to use this network resource. The remote procedure call failed and did not execute."
The DLNA server does appear under Network Infrastructure, but that only attempts to open a web page unsuccessfully.
This might be related to the fact that this machine cannot see any other machines on this network node. I have tried refreshing the net stack and other suggestions found on the web, but still cannot see Windows 7 PCs. I can access those PCs via \\<IP address> but they don't show up in Network discovery. Browser is enabled and running. Oddly, my Oppo UDP-203 CAN see this Windows 10 PC when it opens the network, but other Windows 7 machines can't see this PC.
Seven days working on solving this and other problems, with no resolution yet.
