Vista keyboard/mouse driver kills Vista screen saver

M

Mark from Portland

Hello guys, I recently installed Vista Ultimate on a pretty fast machine, and
got everything set up, peripherals installed etc. The screen saver worked
great. Then I bought the Microsoft Desktop 6000 wireless Vista enabled
keyboard and high def mouse and installed the software, which subsequently
popped up a message stating "not compatible with Vista" which I found amusing
sinse it is a "Vista Certified" product, but quickly found the correct
driver/software pack on the Microsoft site and installed. Now everything
works great but I noticed the screen saver won't come on anymore. I did some
research online and found several forums with lots of people having the same
issue, namely: intall the Microsoft Vista drivers for Microsoft keyboard and
mouse, and the screen saver dies... Frustrating!!!

Just wanted to see if you are aware of this problem, and/or is there a fix????

Thanks!!! Mark

I would ask Microsoft as both systems are theirs.

Already have, but was hoping that someone knew something more about this or
how to fix it. =)

Go to Windows update and get the:

Microsoft - Other Hardware - HID Non-User Input Data Filter

This will fix the problem

To resolve this issue, with your wireless receiver plugged in (this is
important, or the update won't be offered), check for updates. To do this,
go to Control Panel (Classic View) > Windows Update > Check for Updates.
Install the Optional Hardware Update that is named Microsoft HID Non-User
Input Data Filter.
