Hello,
I can't seem to get a straight answer as to what operating systems I can manage on my Server 2016 Datacenter hyper-v hosts. I've read threads where they say you can legally host VMs that are the current OS version of the host (Server 2016) and below and I've read threads where they say you can host one OS version newer (Server 2019) and one OS version lower (2012 R2). I take this as being Server 2012, 2008 R2 and 2008 would not be covered under the Datacenter License. Can anyone shed some light on this topic? I know the licensing changed from number of processors to number of cores but I'd like to know what Operating System Versions Server 2016 Datacenter can host.
