Winsows update is an adventure now. I start my computer and it says wait while while it configures windows. At about 12% it says it cant configure windows reverting changes and shutting down. It restarts goes through the same thing but then moves on normally. So it starts up, I just have to wait for it to do it twice. It keeps telling me there are updates. I install them and it says I need to restart my computer. I do and it tries to install as it is shutting down and them I go through the start up double take again. when I look at the update history I have pages of failed updates. I thought maybe this was happening because the update was already installed. That was the case once but it still comes up in check for updates. Doesn't windows update check that it already offered and installed update? I am not sure if I am up to date at all. Every time I shut down it says there is one update to install and it fails
I open Belarc advisor once and a while because it useful for information and it checks to see that I have all security updates. It tells me I have 13 missing and it tells me which ones. Why doesn't Microsoft do that as before. I can go from Belarc the the update catalogue but I am not used to that and not sure what to do. I was just reading some stuff and it feels like they want me to upgrade to windows 10. I have already done that when it came out, I didn't like it because it was pushy and designed to do what they wanted you to. Constantly pushing Microsoft edge and I said no everytime and it would end up my homepage anyway and I would have to change it back. Having to have your Microsoft account handy all the time, way to many user names and passwords. At setup when you pick how you want your settings but things run rough if you dont choose recommended settings. After a while my computer was getting unresponsive and crashed. You got to dig deep to find safe mode. I was able to do the startup repair and go back to windows 7 which is much more comfortable to use and I missed it. At least you have opportunities to repair things. I dont understand that these are critical and important updates. I have to go to another site to find out about them. I went to the catalogue with what belarc found and installed manually but it took some time. Isn't there a better way?. When I upgraded to win 10 before it was a free upgrade, If I had to do it now would it be?
