I know this is very stupid, but I wanted (just for the **** and giggles) to use my old laptop's dial-up functionality.
So the laptop in question is an Acer Aspire 5315, originally had Vista.
The problem is, I use Windows Xp Pro on it, but I also have a non-genuine Windows 7 installation from the times the laptop belonged to my father. Surprisingly, the Win 7 Starter detects the modem, but it's not good enough when it comes to what I want to use it for. I specifically want it on Windows Xp, because of some articles I've found on the internet.
From the Win 7 Control Panel, I've learnt that the modem is a Soft Modem HDA CX11270. Every site claiming to have a download for the driver always prompted me to install their malware-spyware-filled auto-download driver software, which I don't want because 1. Windows Xp is very vulnerable and 2. I don't think the laptop will take even one more program on it.
So yeah, if I haven't given enough information on this subject, please tell me so, every answer is useful.
Thanks in advance,
Vlad
