We have a Windows Server 2012 VM in a hosted environment, running SQL Server 2012. We have backup devices configured in SQL Server to the data volume (E: drive) and each day, these backups are overwritten.
Over the past week, the free space has reduced drastically although the space used in all folders hasn't increased. We normally have about 110GB free on this volume but it is now down to about 40GB. I have tried rebooting the server and deleted all the backups and deleted the folder containing the backups and re-created it, and also deleted the backup devices in SQL Server but that has made no difference.
Has anyone seen this before and know how to fix it as the way it is going I will run out of space in a few days.
