AVG conflict with Kaspersky?

I installed AVG then install Kaspersky, during the Kaspersky installation
asked me to uninstall AVG, it seems Kaspersky does not like AVG?

However, if the other way around, installed Kaspersky first, then AVG, AVG
did not complaint Kaspersky.

Its not recommended to install two anti-virus programs, think they conflict
with each other. I had the same problem when I started out as well loading
AVG and AVAST at the same time.

You can have as many anti-spyware programs loaded on the PC, but onlt one
anti-virus.

Hi,

Generally is very not recommended to use more then 1 antivirus at the same
time on system. That situation can cause completely unpredictable effects -
blue screens, undetected viruses, limited functionality of AVs etc.. This is
the reason why most of AV have routine to detect other antiviruses.

In my case the AVG did not pick up the Kaspersky's existence.

You should have only one (1) *real-time* AV application installed.
You can (if you wish) have many more *on-demand* AV applications installed.

Actually, it's not recomended to use even several antispyware programs on
one computer. The problem is connected with the way how antispyware and
antiviruses work. Some of them hook (Kaspersky for sure) SDT (service
descriptor table), and if another AV is installed, which also hooks SDT then
BSOD might happen. Because, at the moment of modification of handler address
in SDT the system might trigger dispatch call, and the call will go nowhere,
because there is no syncronization mechanism for SDT - in this case it will
act as shared resource. The same applies to several firewalls - in case of
hooking TDI provider.

Also, take into consideration a perfomace factor. In case of several AV
installed on a system, the system will be working slowly. Those handles
which are installed by AV software need CPU time to execute.

P.S. I do not recommend you to use Kaspersky products. Read these links:

Remove AVG and *ONLY* use Kaspersky.

As others have noted, it is contraindicated to have two fully installed anti virus
applications on any given PC performing both "On Access" and "On Demand" scanning.

You can however have ONE fully installed anti virus application performing both "On Access"
and "On Demand" scanning and multiple other "On Demand" only scanners.

You do get av that are purely on-demand, such as...
- free version of BitDefender
- Trend SysClean
- various cleaners, such as McAfee Stinger, Avast Cleaner etc.
....and they'd be OK to use with a single resident av.

In contrast, most "antispyware" scanners were on-demand only, such as
the free form of AdAware, and Spybot.

That's changing, although usually the free versions will either not
run resident, or if they do, will do so for a limited "trial" period
only (e.g. AVG Antispyware, formally Ewido).

In addition to av-style "mugshot recognition", these products often do
general integration monitoring on demand (no problem), passive
"tattoo" protection such as HOSTS, Restricted Zone settings etc. (no
problem) and behavior monitoring (may clash with others).

Some tools maintain a resident footprint, such as a SysTray icon, in
order to update themselves, without any resident behavior that might
clash with other resident tools, and that's OK too.

AVAST (Anti-Virus, on-demand)
Spybot
Spyblaster
Spyguard
Adaware
AVG Anti-Spyware (Free Edition only)
WinPatrol (Not really spyware)
