I have a single domain, global environment, where there are mixed settings present with some systems configured for NT5DS, and others for time.windows.com over NTP. The goal is to have the PDC emulator use NTP and sync with an internet time source, have all other DC's sync to the PDC emulator over NTP, and all other servers configured for NT5DS.
How does NT5DS select its time source (I could not find a definitive resource that defines this process)? Will it always prefer a DC in the local AD site if available? Is there a setting that allows me to pin a server to a local DC (and apply to site via GPO) rather than let it use some type of selection algorithm? I know you can define a specific list for NTP, but didn't see any equivalent for NT5DS.
