Hello,
Long time lurker, new to the Windows Server game. Don't know if this is the right place I should be asking this, but figured I'd try anyways.
Anyways, I have this weird issue with one of the servers I manage. I am trying to run an .exe file from a network share from the Server 2016 instance. This is an .exe that I am trying to install on a select number of domain-joined workstations.
When I try to run directly from the network share, I am returned with an error message, stating that:
"You do not have permission to access \\networkpath. Contact your network administrator to request access"
I confirmed that both the Administrator, and Domain Users, have access to read, and run the .exe file.
However, when I copy the .exe file locally to the PC, I can then go back to the .exe on the network path, and run the file, without a problem. This seems to be an issue, with only this server. (We have about 5 other ones in production)
My question is, why does this happen? Why does copying the file from its source, to the local machine fix this, and how can I prevent this from occurring with my other workstations?
Any help will be appreciated. (I know my question seems kinda weird, but I'm honestly stumped by this, and am concerned that this can be a larger issue that I need to address.)
Server Information:
Server Type: Hyper-V Instance (Contained in a Host Server)
Operating System: Windows Server 2016 (Build: 10.0.14393)
*The machines that I am trying to run this from are mostly either Windows 10 (Build: 10.0.17134), or Windows 7 workstations.
