Scan Spyware - no internet?

Should I have internet connection when running the anti-spyware program?
And why?

That would be an option, but I sure advice you to update your scanner first
both Anti-Spyware and Anti-Virus before proceeding and quite often the best
way is if your Security application have a safe mode capability scan.

When running *what* "anti-spyware program"? Remember that we can't see
your computer from here.

In general, if you are just doing normal malware scanning as part of
your maintenance program, you can scan while in Regular Mode and while
connected to the Internet.

If you are scanning because you suspect infection, then you should get
the updates for your antispyware and antivirus programs first and then
scan in Safe Mode, offline.
