Windows Update breaking Office 2010

Why is Microsoft pushing Office 2010 updates to my Windows XP machine when I have Windows updates automatically enabled?


Office 2010 is NOT the Windows OS and when I enable Windows Update I expect to get updates to the Windows OS (Windows is the trade marked OS from Microsoft Corporation) i don't expect or want updates to Office 2010, especially when Microsoft haven't configured these Office 2010 updates for Windows XP.


Yes I get that Microsoft don't support Windows XP but Windows Update is for updates to Windows, right. Not updates to Office 2010.


Seems simple enough to me, but I don't think anyone has mentioned this to Microsoft and I'm sure they know, but just in case


Windows Operating Systems are not the same thing as Office 2010, Office 2010 is a package of applications for documents, spreadsheets, photos, power point presentations etc. An operating system is for controlling the disks (yeah DOS) , memory, CPU and computer architecture.
