I installed XP first on one, then "10" on the second partition (previously there was "7"). Interestingly, at the beginning of the boot, I had only option 10, only after the installation of the EasyBCD was an option to run XP.
Everything worked OK, after which after some time I wanted to start the system with the XP partition, I got the message "Windows could not start the following file is missing:" Windows root> \ system32 \ ntoskrnl.exe. Please re-install a copy of the above file. "
I copied this file from the original installation CD, it did not do anything, just like chkdisk. I'm afraid of reinstalling XP on first partition, not to jeopardize partition with 10*. Maybe you do not need to reinstall XP, because some change has occurred in boot.ini?
My file looks like:
[boot loader]
timeout = 15
default = multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (2) \ WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (2) \ WINDOWS = "Windows XP on D: \" / fastdetect
* Is there a risk that after the reinstallation of XP on the first partition, during the reboot, the system will not see me 10?
