We have a client with a Terra server and Win Server 2016 installed on it as of December 2018. When I tried to update the server, I got an error saying that the Cumulative Updates (December, January and February: a different one each month) and the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool x64.
Error Description
The error is repeating itself from last December. When I update, it starts downloading and installing, then I get an Error 0x80073701 for the CU and an Error 0x8024001e for the MSRT. Further updates cannot be installed.
What was done
I went into all the possible forums and tried all the possible solutions that I found but still nothing worked. I took and image of the server and formatted the drive. I downloaded the WS2016 ISO from Microsoft's website and installed a fresh installation of WS2016. What baffled me was that the same problem was encountered when I tried to do the updates! So I concluded that the machine may be the fault of this. I also downloaded the updates from the windows catalog and installed them manually, and were still failing to install. I put the original image of the server back.
Is there a way that I can force install these updates?
